A “tent” is a constituted body of the organization, the Daughter of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865.
The National Organization is composed of State Department. State Departments are composed of Tents.
Tents are local (community) groups formed of women eligible through lineal decent. Tents are named for Army Nurses of the War of 1861-1865, or a patriotic woman who was loyal and rendered aid to the union prior or during and immediately following the War.
